How’s your beard doing?
It's getting itchy?
That’s rough, but it happens a lot—especially as we move closer to winter. The cold season often leads to dry skin which can impact the quality of your beard.
The simple fact is that you are long overdue for an improvement to your beard-care routine. Not to worry, we’re going to walk you through everything you know so that your beard isn’t dry, itchy, or problematic in other ways. We’re going to help you have a healthy beard that makes you happy.
What is beard oil?
Based on the name, you can more or less guess what beard oil is. It’s literally oil that you put in your beard. And we have an amazing one launching any minute now.
But, there’s more to it than the obvious parts. After all, our Beard Oil is a specialized product. You don’t want to put any old oil in your beard; you want to use the right stuff.
Beard oil is made from a unique blend of oils (avocado oil and castor oil are just two of the nourishing oils used) specially formulated to infuse your beard with health and shine. It’s basically a product we created to help you nourish your beard while giving it shine.
What does beard oil do for you?
Specifically, beard oil is doing a lot of things for you at the same time.
Do you ever play Movember and let your beard go wild? Does it get stiffer and itchier as the month goes on?
If so, you’re dealing with dry skin, and it’s a common problem for guys with thick beards. When you can’t see your face, it’s easy to forget how delicate facial skin can be. You end up neglecting skincare, and that leads to a rough beard, possibly dandruff, itchiness, and a less-than-stellar beard experience.
Beard oil—when used as part of a total beard care regime—works to make your beard healthy. It softens the beard hair, increases your shine, restores your natural moisture levels, and helps you style your beard, all at the same time.
How does beard oil work?
Is it made of magic? Sort of.
At MANSCAPED™, we packed our beard oil to the brim with the highest quality ingredients you can find all over the world. This premium beard oil is a mixture of jojoba, castor, sunflower, sweet almond, and avocado oils.
That blend means infused nutrients that are good for your skin and beard hair. So, when you use the oil, you moisturize the skin and hair while simultaneously providing them with the ingredients they need to look and feel their best.
That’s the gist of how beard oil works. It’s empowering your beard to take care of itself by providing the essential needed ingredients.
Why do you need beard oil?
Surely, that all sounds great. You can have a shiny, healthy, good-looking beard. That’s already enough motivation, right? What more could you need?
Actually, we get it. Sometimes, when you understand the mechanisms behind the advice, you can do more with it. Specifically, there are a handful of reasons why you need beard oil on hand, and you’ve probably already experienced some of them.
First up is exposure. You wear your beard when you go outside. Sunny, dry, or otherwise harsh weather can make your beard dry and brittle. Nobody wants a brittle beard. It’s weird to even think about.
So, when exposure starts to take a toll on your beard, you can hook it up with health-infusing beard oil, and you can counteract those issues.
The same holds true for skin issues under the beard. As we already mentioned, your skin can get dry, flaky, red, itchy, and irritated under your skin. All of that leads down a dark road of bearded misery, and we really don’t want that for you.
You can take the detour with a little beard oil. It moisturizes your skin, combating dryness and flakiness, and the shot of health helps your skin stay resilient against things like dandruff and irritation.
How do you use beard oil?
If you’re starting to come around, then you might be ready to learn how to use beard oil.
First, the good news.
Beard oil is very easy to apply and use intelligently. You normally only need to apply it one to three times a week. Read that again. Only a few times a week will suffice. The oil will be able to work its magic, and you don’t have to worry about greasing up the old beard too much.
Now, the other good news is that it might really be an optimistic attempt to make you feel better about an expanding self-care routine.
Beard oil is at its very best when it isn’t the lone product in your arsenal. Combine it with some balm, a quality beard shampoo and conditioner, and skincare in general, and your beard oil is part of a complete package that really does make your beard look ruggedly handsome.
Applying beard oil is easy.
You only need a few drops in the palm of your hand. Once you have the beard oil in your hand, you’re going to massage it into your beard. Ideally, your beard will not be dripping wet when you do this, but if it’s damp (like say from a recent shower), then the oil will do quite well.
You’re going to work the oil through your entire beard, and you’ll be able to tell how well you did because the oil literally adds shine to your beard. That’s really all it takes.
Make beard oil part of your routine
And, if you already have a good self-care routine, your beard oil will fit in right after you shower—probably around the time you’re thinking of putting on some deodorant.
If you don't have a great routine established, then we’re going to give you some quick advice.
First off, it all starts with a great shower. If you shower regularly and use good products in the shower, then you’ll maintain soft, smooth skin and a nice beard. Our specialized Beard Shampoo and Beard Conditioner will keep your beard clean and conditioned, not dry and brittle.
After you shower, go ahead and towel dry your beard. You won’t get rid of all of the dampness, but the goal is to ensure that the beard isn't dripping wet.
At this point, you can apply the beard oil as needed. We recommend using it once to several times a week. And you can also alternate between your oil and our new Beard Balm. Or use both. It all depends on your beard. The balm is more like a styling gel for your beard, even though it also has health-promoting properties. Beard balm is designed to give you more control over styling the beard. You can use both to make your beard as lush as possible.
